Going to try and kill two birds with one stone here...

Both rear doors on my 07 ST, no matter which way the child lock is flipped, you cannot open from the inside using the handle. How can this be fixed? Can I fix it myself or should a dealer fix it?

Also, is there a thread on here or another forum that shows how to remove the door panels? I have looked for a video for the Gen 2 on YouTube with no luck. The tops of all of my doors where it meets the window have faded to a milky white color and I would like to remove them to paint/stain them.

Again, Thank you for the help :driving:

I guess not. While the parts are not the same, the problem and solution may be.

Try a Google search for "2007 sport trac remove rear door panel".

I can help on the panel removal, but I have not played with the child locking mechanism. I would say from experience that the child lock is a simple mechanical mechanism that removes the ability of the cable from the inside release to become disengaged at out handle right above the switch on the door. I guess you will have to get in there some how and mess with it. The door panel is pretty easy though. Start by removing the door lock soldier. It just threads on. Then remove the black cover panel just above the lock soldier, by getting your fingers under the top and pulling until the clip releases. I suggest getting finger tips as close to the clip as possible. Don't just start yanking at it. Once it has released the panel will coming off by lifting both up and out. Now you have to remove the panel on the face of the door release/arm rest. It is shaped like a skeleton key hole laying sideways. Again gently and get fingers under it. I believe there are four little spades sticking out and they can be broken if just yanked on. The covers are $50 bucks a piece from Ford so be careful here. Along with the door pull handles. There are two bolts under the release cover and two under the door pull cover. Metric hex sized either 7 or 8mm can't remember which. There are two sheet metal screws at the bottom of the door panel also. Don't over tighten them when reinstalling they just go into the sheet metal and can strip the hole out. The panel will now come off by lifting first them pulling out towards you. There are several fingers that catch and hold panel in place. :supercool:
