My 2003 ST 's driver door is suddenly sticking a lot, both when trying to open it from the outside and the inside of the vehicle. It will only open if I pull/push much harder than usual while pulling the handle. Since it does eventually open, I don't think anything's actually broken, but I could be wrong. It almost feels like part of the latch mechanism is a little out of place or like the door is not hanging straight, but I can't actually see anything amiss.

Has anyone else had this problem out of the blue? For the first 150K of it's life, never had an issue with any door handles or latching mechanisms. As a non-mechanic, I'd like to just spray some WD40 on the exposed mechanism in the door and the post in the door frame, but thought I should check with you all first.

Thanks for anything you might suggest!

The door latches should be flushed and lubricated periodically.

Also make sure your rubber door seals are cleaned and treated.

Check that the door striker bushings are not missing or worn.

You may need to adjust them slightly using a T50 Torx socket.
