Hello all.

Brought my 2001 Trac to the bank today, and as I was driving away from the

ATM machine, the drivers window would not go back up. It was stuck all the way down.

When I got home, I took the inner door panel apart. I took out the switch but

couldn't find anything obviously wrong with it.

I did notice the two larger wires leading to the window motor though. So I hit those

with 12V from another wire and the window went back up as smooth as can be.

So the motor is not bad. At least I'm not stuck with the window down.

When I click the down on the drivers window it still goes down, but not up. I can hear

a sound like a relay clicking under the dash when I click the down, but nothing when I

click the up.

Other than the switch, what else could be wrong? Anyone else had a problem like

this?

Thanks,

-Zim

In my experience it is generally the switch. Sometimes trying to take the switch apart and lubing and cleaning it will do the trick. If the problem is intermittent, it is the switch. In my experience, window motor failures are permanent, not intermittent.

Most of the time it is the switch connection, Try pushing on the switch lightly, not all the way if it works the switch needs to be cleaned or replaced...

They come apart and can be cleaned...

Just to follow up - it was indeed the switch.

Took it apart, (even un-soldered the LED's) and cleaned

the contacts.

Works like a champ again now.

Thanks all.
