Driverside speaker wire?

Hey Guys,



Got a question, I running new thicker speaker wire for doors and I got to the driver side front door and found this large capsule looking thing with the rubber boot going to it. Is it worth trying to dissamble that doodad or should I just drill a new hole with a grommet.

I think 2 small holes with grommets would be easier and faster..

That capsule looking thing is easy to open. One bolt on top into door (7-8mm) and a clip on the front side. :banana:

I ended up opening mine up and drilling a big hole to run the speaker wire through. You'll want to study it closely to make sure you don't interfere with the operation of the pins or the hinge itself. It's a strange connector for sure. I've had no trouble with it since doing it. (I did test locks and windows after drilling, just in case I messed things up.)
