Dumbest T-stat, I ever saw.

I was looking up the part# for my niece's t-stat.

She has an '06 chev aveo. The t-stat cost is from $27 to $43.

You have to buy the whole housing with t-stat built in.

The only ones that use the $5 drop in, are. If the motor came with a metal t-stat housing.

Hers is the plastic housing.

What stupid engineer did this.

Aparently this same 1.6L motor is used in 3 different forgien cars also.

Must be kin to the same engineer that the designed the one on the Sport Trac that the dealer charges $700.00 to replace. Sure there kin in some way.:btddhorse:

Mark, why is that? Thermostat replacement is a piece of cake on the 4.0 SOHC.

Sounds like you are referring to the lower housing. Still not bad, albeit confined.

The t-stat on my BMW is $75, and that's my cost..it is electrically operated though.

Too bad noone makes a metal lower housing in the aftermarket for the sohc, I would've bought one.

Eddie. My daughter's Mazda 3 was the same way. Had to buy the whole housing. Is kind of stupid.
