Well had some fun this weekend.....

Ran the st on the dyno.....

Here is the video to it and the dyno sheets...

I am completely happy with the results...:cool:

The first is a 93 performance tune and the second is a race tune....

There was a mustang club there the same day, and when they brought the truck on, they did "dyno dollars".... every one bets a dollar on the first run HP.... The funny thing is the highest person bet 175 HP.... MAN where they surprised... HAHAHAHAHA :lol:

Tiger, IF it didn't come on the truck from the factory then it is a modification (mod) that I made to the truck... Not only performance stuff is a mod, Sheesh...:p

Todd Z

I'm not saying performance are the only mods, but full wheel liners as a mod? Or the tool tray? That's stretching it a lil' bit.

Maybe I should list my mods like that, I'd probably have close to 150...

Remember Trav, those didn't come standard on later years. I have them, but don't consider them mods because they were included with the truck and in the original price.

Todd, nice numbers. Just showed one of my friends the videos and he couldn't believe it (he drives a Mustang GT btw) Makes me want to get some cheap rims so I can go light up the tires I got sittin here.

Trav,

So taking a saw to your antenna and making it shorter or yellow lights is mod??.. Thats from your profile...

To each is own man.... Not going to start a pissing contest as to what is a mod and what isn't, but if it was not on the truck the day I drove it home, then guess what, it is a mod in my book... List all of yours and get to 150, be my guest.. Like this is a competition or something...

Sheesh.....

Jeff C, Thanks, I know you know the feeling....;)

I know later models don't have them.

Does buying and 'installing' syntehtic oil count as a mod? How about removing beauty covers, is that a mod? Would my exhuast be a mod even though the only thing I've done to it is cut it off before the rear axle? All I'm saying is at some point you have to draw a line between what counts as a modification and what isn't. Just because it isn't factory 100% accurate doesn't mean it's a modified vehicle.

Tiger, you just gave me 3 more mods to add to my list... thanks !!

228 HP at the flywheel? That is freaking sweet.

That is like 330 HP at the flywheel. What is EE S/C rated at? 300 HP also?

Sweet.

Tom,

While I would Love it to be 300Hp at the motor the 228 is the max at the rear wheels... So about 250 at the flywheel...

The ee charger is tested to add 75 rear wheel HP to the truck... :D

Todd Z

Todd,

An average tranny uses about 25 to 30% of the flywheel HP.

If it is 228 HP at the rear wheels, 300 at the flywheel breaks down to about using a 25% loss.

Does anyone know how much power is lost through the automatic tranny?

Tom

Well, From the stock dyno results that have been posted here a while ago, the St was 180-185 RWHP ... At 205 motor advertised, thats a 10% drive train loss....

I cant see todays transmissions using that much any more especially when they are locked in third gear or 4th gear at a ratio of 1:1....

Well, back in 1998, a friend of mine had his 1991 Escort GT on the dyno. It had a 5 speed manual tranny.

His FWH was 107. The engine was rated at 127 HP. A loss of a little more then 20%. On the racetrack, my Escort GT would get him by about a half second. I did have headers, exhaust, intake, advanced timing, short shifter and a few other bolt ons.

I really wonder what the actual loss is on that automatic tranny. I find it really hard to beleve a loss of 10% on an automatic tranny with a 20%+ loss on a manual tranny.

See what I mean?

Tom

Tom I get you 100%.... Just from past experience I cant see the truck having that much Motor HP........
