I have noticed over the past few weeks that when I let off the brake and press on the gas my Ebrake light comes on for a second and then goes off. It really doest do it when Im at a dead stop, just when slowing down over speed bump or turning. Is there something that could cause this?

You need to add brake fluid. This is normally caused by brakes that are close to being worn out since the caliper pistons are full of fluid.

The pads really shouldnt be worn out, I put a set of cross drilled rotors & new pads on not that long ago, well I guess it actually been about a year but still, I NORMALLY dont go through brakes that fast. I guess Ill add fluid and check my pads in the morning.

Cross drilled rotors will wear out pads very quickly. Slotted rotors will do it even faster.

Rear disc equipped vehicles don't have EMERGENCY brakes, only parking brakes. If you depend on whose wimpy little shoes to stop you in an emergency you'd better off open the door and drag your foot. I know, the term is hard to loose.:grin:



Owners manual says: "Illumination after releasing the parking brake indicates low brake fluid level and the brake system should be inspected immediately........."



Agreed it is probably a low fluid issue. Maybe it was drawn out when replacing the pads last time and not topped back off, maybe a leaking caliper/line. Check for leaks, top it off and keep a close eye on it.

Definitely a low fluid issue, I had the same issue a year or 2 ago, and low fluid was the cause.



Some Gen1's have rear drum brakes, craptacular in every way except that they generate superior braking force via the brake pedal, iirc.



There really should be a separate "Your E/parking brake is still on, idiot" light, so that drivers don't get used to seeing the brake light, which should only come on in a crisis or, preferably, before the crisis comes, as it is doing now.

And that's the way we liked it, for while drums suck, unless I'm going to tow something so that some real weight will be on the rear wheels while braking, I'm not going to upgrade.



Sticking calipers seem to be a problem, and I in good conscience can't put my faith in a faux-drum brake as an e-brake.



(Though superior stoppage would be nice, I don't want to get it with the expense of poor acceleration, poor gas mileage, smoke, and a new brake assembly, which would be the price of disc.)





(Attention Caymen, before you start rioting, you tow fairly often it seems, which gives disc a better point, and if in fact I do have to up my mechanical skill level and get an open differential for a locking one, then I'd gun for one with the disc) :grin:
