Has anyone installed the lowering kit from Explorer Express? I am just wondering about the new cam bolts. It says after installing them to adjust them to maximum caster, i.e. top of wheel leaning out as far as possible. How do I know I have it at maximum caster if I have the wheels off installing the cam bolts? Surely I won't have to install the cam bolts, then bolt the wheels back on just to maybe have to turn around and take it all apart again to re-adjust the cam bolts. Any tips on how to accomplish this?

Jeff,

THat is not what I meant. I plan on taking it after I install the kit. It is just that in the instructions, it states to turn the cam bolts to maxium caster and then take it to the shop. Are you saying I should let the alignment shop turn the bolts when I go get it aligned?

They are just letting you get it close to the camber settings it will need after you lower it. Otherwise you will be driving to the alighnment shop on the inside edge of the tires.

Ok, can someone tell me how I know when I have it adjusted to maximum caster so that I am not driving to the alignement shop on the inside edge of the tires? All it states in the instructions is to adjust them to maximum caster by turning the bolt and then take it to an alignment shop. If I don't have the wheels on it to see which way the tire is leaning, how do I know that I have it at maximum caster before I go to the shop?

Maximum would be that the tires dont lean in at the top, after the trac is lowered the amount you will lower it.

Fast Eddie,

I understand what you are saying and I think I just haven't made my point clear. I have already lowered the rear. I have already adjusted the torsion bars on the front. I now need to install the adjustable cams. IT says once installed "SNUG NUTS ONTO PIVOT BOLTS, THEN ADJUST CAMBER TO MAXIMUM POSITIVE POSITION BY TURNING BOLT END OF PIVOT ADJUSTER." At this point my wheels are still off of the truck so how do I know when I have it at maximum positive camber?

Turn the adjustment cams so that the the upper control arm is puhed as far out as possible. You are setting camber, not caster. When the upper control arm moves outward, you get positive camber, when it moves inward, you get negative camber.
