Looking for some suggestions on programs for troubled teens. I've found plenty online but wondering if anyone has any experience with a specific program. Any help would be appreciated.

Although I have not had direct contact with it, I have had friends tell me about Big Brother Big Sister programs. I have three friends that are mentors. They tell me that it has changed their lives. Now if the teen is your teen then this may not be what your after. If your trying to help a teen then maybe it is...

I had a friend that had the local PD take his child to the court system, explained the process once the get in trouble, took them to Juvie Hall as well as the local jail. Pretty much spent the day within the system. The troubled teen straighten out and has not had an ounce of trouble since then. The child was not into drugs and such. Just hung around a BAD group and did either mean or stupid things. He was on his way to jail if he kept up the path he was on..

Thanks Coastie. Not my teen directly (lucky me) but she is already in trouble. It's her first offense but she went for the gold with her choice. From my experience with her she's a good kid just trying to find herself I guess and she made a very poor decision in that search. The BB/BS progs I don't think are the best option since she's got a loving family, a program is now necessary to help get her out of trouble. Something that will help her finish high school and give a kick in the pants once in a while.

Job Core, Kids learn responsiblity and get thru school and even college if they want. While in they earn money, have chores/responsibities and when they are at the end of their visit they get all the money in their bank account. Worked for DP's niece and a couple of other teens of friends.

Spaceman,

A good Boy Scout troop can make a big difference for boys 12-15. Sometimes, at that age, they just need more structure, direction and some self-confidence.

Maybe the same holds for Girl Scouts and a girl?
