I'm currently in Iraq and will be buying a used ST when I get back next month. I will probably pay cash for it. After reading entries in the forum here it seems many people are not happy with Ford service. My question is a multiple-part one;

Should you buy an extended warranty?

If so, should you buy through Ford like is advertised on this website?

Anyone heard of buying one through your credit union and if you so use it you get most of the money back?

Thoughts, recommendations, advice or adverse opinions welcomed.

Most of the time the dealer extended warranties help you out better than a third party one..

I had a 3rd party warranty on my 98 contour and it was probably the easyist thing I have ever used. They would let me take it to any ford dealer and the dealership would call the claim center and no questions asked it was fixed. I had $0 deductable and used the heck out of the service. It covered me for 6 years and 100,000 miles.:D:D

how much did that run you? a buddy over here with me purchased an extended warranty through his credit union for about $1,100. When the warranty was over the credit union sent him a check for $950
