I've got a couple small engine things that need work. I'm wondering if my ESP Extra Care plan is going to cover them.

I've got a horrible pulley squeak going. I've already had the water pump pulley replaced under warranty back in 02, and the serpentine belt in 01. I think it's time to replace one or both again. Will the warranty cover that?

Also, my upper radiator hose needs to replaced AGAIN because it was rubbing against the dipstick after my zip-tie fix broke. The thing is, this time I rubbed through, and it's leaking.

Anybody had luck getting their ESP to cover this work? I don't see why they wouldn't.

If it is your belt, and it probably is, no, it will not cover it. A defective pulley will probably be covered though.

The hose,,,,, maybe, depends on your dealer and how they interpret things. I think most will replace it due to the dip stick tube being your issue.

I'm really thinking that it's a pulley.

It seems that if it was the belt, it would squeak all of the time. But I'm only getting the squeak in the first 10-15 minutes, and then it stops. When it's raining, it seems to last longer. Physically, the belt still looks good.

I see you live in a cold environment area. You may have the Alternator issue. Only happens when it is cold or wet and sometimes under a heavy load. Only affects the Cold Weather Tracs...

There is a TSB for this if so. Ford will install a alternator that comes from the 4 door Explorer as it is a higher amperage model. Same goes for the power steering pump. If in a parking lot you feel it kind of give and then get a bit stiffer you will want/need to get that replaced as well. I live in Ohio. Ford replaced mine under my Extended Coverage with the 4 door Explorer items...

I had the same thing Due to the belt slipping on the p/s pulley with out you knowing it, causes the squeek.... I replaced the belt with a shorter belt and the noise has been gone since..

No luck on getting the hose replaced.

The service tech agreed that it's not right that I have to pay for the repair, but his hands were tied. He gave me a Customer Review Request to fill out, to see if Ford will reimburse me for it. I doubt it's even worth it.
