Has anyone experienced any problems with the bolts that hold the caliper onto the wheel assembly backing off over time? On my 05 F-150, my cousin and I redid the brakes about 2 months ago. On the way home from his house one of the bolts fell off at 70mph. Now this morning on my way into work a bolt on the other side backed out as well. My wife went to the dealer for the bolt and they told her Ford re-specd the bolt due to complaints about this happening. Ive done a few brake jobs and never had this happen on any other vehicles. When it happened the first time, I figured that it was due to one of us not tightening the bolt down tight enough. But having it happen a 2nd time had me thinking a little differently. This time I added some lock-tite blue to it to hopefully prevent it from happening again. (It also gave all the GM fans at work a reason to rip on my Ford).

The replacement bolts have thread sealer on them. I tell my customers to put some fresh sealer on the bolts any time they change the brakes.

IIRC, the caliper anchor bolts coming loose is fairly common on all the Ford truck forums.

Torque on those small bolts is around 80 ft/lbs, almost lug nut tight. Problem is getting a

torque wrench in the confined space. I turned the wheel(s) to lock, loosened them using a

six point socket, applied blue Loctite, and checked them for proper torque. Peace of mind.

BTW, that torque spec is for my '05 ST, the F150 may be considerably higher.

I've never had any issue on any year Ford truck with caliper bolts or the adaptor bolts coming loose...I've never even heard that it has been or ever was an issue
