I was leaving work yesterday, walked out into the parking lot and noticed that my corner light just didn't look right. As I got closer I could see that my headlight, cornerlight, bumper, and cladding were all cracked and shattered. Some asswipe must have backed into my Trac while I was in work yesterday and didn't leave a name, number, anything. So I haven't got a quote yet but I know that my $500 deductible will be chump change compared to the amount of damage that was done. It's little things like this that is so wrong with the world today, you'd figure that above all times of the year that around the holidays someone would feel compelled to fess up to what they have done, you know, in "good spirit". So today I parked in the same exact spot and put a sign the size of my windshiled on the Trac that says:
I JUST WANT TO SAY THANK YOU TO WHOEVER BACKED INTO MY TRUCK YESTERDAY AND DROVE OFF- NICE JOB AND HAPPY F***ING HOLIDAYS!!!

Thanks for lettin me rant and rave guys!!- Heather

Heather that $500 deductible is for collision. This should fall under comprehensive and not have that deductible. Check with your insurance company.

For some reason I can't get Lawrence Fishbourne out of my head from the movie "What's love got to do with it" when he was muttering: "Done messed up a perfectly fine automobile..."

Sorry to hear about it, Heather.

I'm waiting on a call back from my agent, but either way, it's not so much about the money as it is about the principal....it was wrong to just drive off without any concern for what they had done. I mean my truck was parked straight and had shifted to the left from the impact, we aren't talking a small hit here, there is no way that the person who hit me didn't know.

Heather,

Keep your eyes open. You might get lucky and it was someone that you actually work with and will see the damage to their car plus the paint from your ST. Also, do you have security cameras for the parking lot where you work?

Sorry to hear it Heather. I'm amazed at the inconsideration people often show. I feel a small portion of your pain.

My trac became a victim on a door smasher this weekend. I parked WAY toward the bottom of a parking lot, no one even close. Went in the store for 5 minutes, came out and some JERK was parked as close to my trac as they could get and still be able to get out of their door. No other vehicles within 40 feet! I knew to check my door for damage and sure enough, they when all the way though the paint. (steam shooting out ears at this point) Why, why, why would someone pick out a vehicle parked so far away from anything else to park so close to? The door smasher's vehicle wasn't a bad looking vehicle either. I wish I'd have been there when they doored me, well, no, probably better that I wasn't.....

Doug- No cameras in the parking lot. If it wasn't like -2 outside I'd go and check the parking lot for an SUV/Truck with a busted tail light! (I may actually do this on my lunch break)- Everyone is getting a kick out of my sign though!

Sorry to hear of your issue. It does suck rocks...

Sounds like you have it resolved thru your insurance. But if you need any parts shoot me an email. I will put a list together for you.

Best of luck, hope it all turns ok..

Did the other vehicle leave any paint or broken glass? You can send it to a lab and have it analyzed and narrow your search for the sob. I saw it done on CSI the other night.

Seriously, that does suck and I know if it happened to me I would be very upset.

Bummer !!! Hope you find the culprit.

I live at the end of a street and constantly get people driving up my gravel driveway and turning around. But it's not just that....they like to sit in the drive and look at the house for, what seems like, a countless period of time. The house is a log cabin that was built in 1790 and IS striking.

Then they back out into the yard ! One even backed over a small magnolia tree I planted for the Wifee as a birthday gift.

I got a bit of satisfaction last week when I went out and found a large broken taillight next to a big locust tree. Appears someone in a F150 met the "immovable force" and severely damaged their vehicle. To break out the entire taillight, they had to smash in the bumper and the tree showed signs of a battle.

Sorry for their luck, but if they can't read the signs that say it is a dead end street then.......

Sorry to hear about your ST. I hope you have better luck than when my wife's Jeep got hit a couple of years ago. She was leaving work and caught a kid trying to leave after he failed to nagotiate a turn in her parking lot and rammed into the rear side of her Grand Cherrokee. Everything was fine until the next day when she tried to get ahold of his insurance and they told her that he didn't have insurance through them anymore. His policy was dropped the week before due to him not paying it. Cost us our deductable and our Insurance CO. took him to court and he didn't even show up. Needless to say, we were out our deductable and he got away without paying anything. It sucked. Hope you make out better than we did.;)

Sorry to hear about your Trac Heather. I don't blame you one bit for being pissed and putting up the sign. I would of done the same thing. I hope you find the A-hole. -Heather

Mike, In NY this would be a collision claim... And the worst part is over a 1,000 buck repair and your premium will go up.... Welcome to NY........

I know how you feel. Almost.

Someone hit my ST a couple of weeks ago and didn't leave a note.

The damage on mine was only the rear bumper cover and one of the license plate light covers. I haven't ordered the cover yet, but looks like it is going to cost me about $240.00 to fix.

Yes, there are a lot of people out there that are working hard to unbalance their karma level!

Sorry to hear about your troubles.

Same thing happened to me but to my back end about a month ago, bad enough they had to replace the box, the total bill came to 2200.00 and I had to drop the 500.00 deductible. Gotta love some people. But Im glad you're alright..... maybe you can get grissom to help you out ... nail that b**tard.

I'd keep checking the parking lot for a while. The JERK that did this might be driving a different vehicle for a few days because of the incident.

I would hope that we do not do the same to others. Somoene decided to key my trac while we were on vacation in SD, and also someone did some major door damage to our PT Cruiser with their door, probably happened during a wind storm that week. $500 to side panel.

Ever watch that show "My Name Is Earl!"....it's about karma! ;)

Buck up buddies. Sorry it happened to you both.

One of my co-workers had this happen to her at work. She went searching in the parking lot, and found a car with damage that matched what would have been caused by the collision. Sure enough it was him. She turned him in to the on-base cops, who passed the issue to his Commander. He had to pay for the repairs and lost a stripe. Since he had been in trouble before, he was denied re-enlistment a few months later. Really bad Karma for him.
