I have a factory radio from my 2005 ST for sale... $25 plus shipping. I bought my ST in December and into it went my after-market radio from my last truck. So now I have an extra radio that needs a new home.

Thanks!

You will need a special shipping bracket for that unit. Without it the 6disc cd carrier can get damaged.

Actually, the bracket is not needed for this radio. This model has the radio and cd changer mechanism in the same housing and will not accept the bracket. I believe you can "park" this model.

Does this unit require the external amp/sub or is this one plug and play? Anyone know? :) I have an '05 with the cd/cassette unit now.

I don't have much experience with radios, but I don't think it needs an external amp or sub. The Kenwood radio that I put in just has wires directly to the speakers and it works.

If anyone has any info on how to park the CD head, it would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I think it does require the bracket. It is discussed in a thread below.

see link.

This unit has its own amp, but. The sub circuit needs an amp. I have the same unit in my '04.

I did a quick Google for a shipping bracket for this radio and I didn't see anything interesting. It looks like a lot of people sell the radio refurbed/used on eBay, etc, and I doubt they are shipping them with a shipping bracket... but if anyone knows where to get one, I'd be happy to look into it.

Sent message to you on this unit. I am interested mainly because of the ability to add on a satellite radio unit and have the head unit control it.

Robbie just sent a CD-6 I bought from him and it did not have the holes for the bracket. It seems that perhaps earlier units need the bracket, but later ones can be put into "shipping" mode. Robbie found this document when he was preparing to send it to me.

This is now in my member library, in the Nov. 27 folder.

Also, I found the forum thread below with some pertinent information.

Hopefully I'll get it swapped in this evening.......

Okay... tried calling a couple of dealers about the bracket and they didn't know what I was talking about....

I looked at the doc and the F150 forum and they've given me some things to try. I'm wondering if they did away with the bracket after the doc was written (in 2002). I'll hook the radio back up into my ST and see if I can get it into the shipping mode (and test it some more). If it doesn't go into shipping mode, it might be one of those new-fangled devices that automatically park the head when the power is removed. Let's hope...

Thanks for the info Jeff!

Stay tuned...

Hooked the radio up and tested it out. I was able to activate the diag mode (3 + 6 buttons), though all it did was play to each speaker individually. The "shipping mode" key combo (scan + 1) did nothing, so I'm assuming there's no shipping mode for this radio.

I couldn't get it to take more than one CD. Is it possible this a 1x CD player? Or maybe I'm an idiot? haha

My boo-boo. That is the single cd unit. the 6cd unit had a load button above the volume knob. I think it is also only a 4.0 speaker unit, not a 4.1. No factory sub out.

I missed that, sorry.

same stereo i have in my 05, its a single disc MP3/CD with the ability to add ford accessories like a changer the factory sub, sirius/xm sat radio, and aux input.

to answer everyone's fear... it is not like the ford 6 disc changers and the pioneer 6 disc charger that require shipping hardware for the changer.

this stereo does NOT require hardware for the cd slot. this is a single disc unit
