Im looking to get the 6 CD Pioneer radio. I have the single cd radio now. Do i have to make any mods to the harness or swap out the harness?

Thanks in advance.

There is no clear cut yes or no,,

Some you have to do mods, others you do not.

I added the 6-pack radio and the amp to my Trac. In most cases, the radios will go in and plug in and do what you need.

If your looking to add the sub, remove the passengers kick panel, you will find a plug there that just kind of ends. If there are wire to this plug that seem to run up to the radio's direction, then you will be fine.

If you click on my wrench, I did a project on this and there are pictures in there...

If thats what you are trying to do, make sure you check that kick panel first! I tried this thinking the all have the sub wiring from the panel to the radio, nope. And that is hard if not impossible to find. I gave up on the whole sub thing.

I have the factory installed 6-CD Pioneer radio in my ST that I recently bought used, and I do not like the 6-CD unit very much. It does not play MP3 CDs and the CDs get stuck inside the mechanism on occassion. I plan on upgrading soon to a head unit that handles iPods and has a USB input (for MP3s on a flash drive) as a better way to go. Even a simple single-CD head unit that plays MP3 CDs would have as much storage capacity as the 6-CD Pioneer, with less risk of CDs jamming.

Just my thoughts...

I agree. I put a Sony unit in my 02 and I LOVE IT.

On the front it has AUX IN for mP3 players etc, a USB jack, single CD/MP3 player, and an attachment for plugging in an iPod. It's the Xplode series. I got everything I needed for the install including face plate and harness from Crutchfield for about 150 bucks.

I paid 40 dollars to have it professionally installed.

That is a pretty slick cup holder thing, where did you get it?

i had the 6 disc in my '02 and had no loading problems. Heck, it even unloaded perfectly after the ST was totaled! :D

I got the cup holder thing out of a catalogue. I see them all the time and they're anywhere from 5 to 10 dollars. I have one in each vehicle and if someone stole all of them, I'd replace them within the week. LOL

As far as the open compartment in the mount facing, That's why I wanted a double DIN unit...because it would fill the entire space. The double DINs were either junk or too expensive with either NAV, DVD player or both. Didn't want NAV or a DVD player. That facing is just the one Crutchfield sent me. I'm sure there are other options. As you can see, it's a handy place to keep my chewing gum, but that's about all. It will hold CD cases, but with the "neck snapping" starts the Trac is capable of (grin), they slide right out and land in my lap. A little drop down door would be nice to cover up the hole and make the space more useful.

i have a factory radio that is not only 6 disc, but also plays MP3s. the only thing i am having a issue is that i want to keep the factory look and also add a aux port (my radio also has a aux button as well as a sat button, which the sat i dont ever plan on using for sat, we dont get it in Alaska) for my zune and also add a sub and amp....i get conflicting reports as to if it can be done. you can see what kind of radio i have in my library.....any info on how i could do this would also be great...thank you
