Factory sub/aftermarket radio

Just got the factory sub working, but there is this terrible THUMP! when I first turn it on. Does anyone know what might cause this? Is it a grounding issue?

May be a ground issue but probably not due to the fact that you are using an aftermarket radio. With a stock radio it probably had a setting that "quietly" turned it on with the unit. Without the stock radio and it being "hardwired" it doesn't have the capability to do that. When I had my sub in my Toyota it would "thump" when I powered up the unit. It worked fine otherwise, was just an annoyance. Someone may be able to help with wiring it differently so it doesn't get the sudden surge when it's first turned on but it could be tough since it's mainly designed to plug straight into the stock upgraded unit. It is working otherwise though right?

Yes, otherwise the sub is working fine. Thanks stonemiser, I will just have to get used to the thump.
