So I've been thinking about getting a new head unit for a while and after the gf gave me an ipod touch for vday, I went ahead and finally got one. I got the Alpine IDAX001. I couldn't test the ipod out on the spot because I left my ipod at home but when I got home and plugged it in, I noticed that the sub was putting out vocals instead of bass. The sub wasn't hitting at all, the rear door speakers were putting out the bass. Prior to the install, the guy wasn't sure if the factory sub would work but after consulting his installer, the installer said it would work as long as they got the specific harness for the sub. Does anyone know what the problem might be? I am going to take it back to the shop but I'd like some insight as to what the problem could be so that the shop can't give me the runaround. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Jeff

Your headunit should have preouts for a subwoofer. You will need 2 rca cables that are then connected to the 4 wires going to subwoofer.

You will also need a 7805 voltage regulator to eliminate the turn on thump, that your Alpine headunit will cause. Ford amps only need 5v as a remote power source, aftermarket headunits put out 12v.
