So i finally thought that i had read all that i could possibly find (been reading how-to's on this for over 2 years now) and thought the only thing left to do is the actual fiberglass....

So i pulled out everything i could from behind the rear seats, covered it in masking tape, then aluminum foil....laid the first 2 layers of glass inside the truck, pulled it out and added 7 more, for a total of 9 layers on the backside of a box that hold 2 10's....

then i trimmed out the edges and cut the 2 subwoofer openings in the front board (mdf).

thats where i got since Sunday morning. Sometime this week, i should be able to hot glue this all in place, and start part 2 - pulling fleece over it all, and glassing up the sides.

this enclosure will house 2 CVT Kicker 10-inch subs....

I've been going back and forth about what to do with my 08 STA. I've got two JBL GTO 1202D subs that I'm trying like hell to fit in any type of custom sealed enclosure but I can't get the cubic air space I need for the subs.

I've been thinking about doing a ported modular enclosure to rest on the rear seat backs when they are down. Then I could get even more bass.

Seems like a lot more work than I did for something that will look like this...

Think that would look tacky? A custom ported box that sits on the folded down back seats? I can't decide what to do and I've been racking my brain about this for about a month.

wow those pictures look all to familiar. i did pretty much the exact same thing. laid two layers in the trac and then the rest out side the truck. turned out pretty well but when i got stolen i decided to get a professional to build me a custom tuned box for behind those seats. but just a little advice. it may have been a lot easier for you to have built your mdf frame first and laid the glass into it in the trac. better final fit and stronger overall, i think there may be a picture or two in my library if not i have them on my computer.

That looks nice Clay - i'm just not that great with mdf. i even tried to start with it, but everything was coming out rough. i'm not the best craftsman out there....:lol:

as i mentioned , been wanting to try this for a while, and to me it seemed easier than making one out of mdf and then it still not turning out.

Jeff - your measurements for your enclosure were the guidelines i used - thank-you for that...

TRACket Paul - thanks, you learn something new everyday....fixed now.
