Rose's new car will not recognize her commands on anything. Could be that sweet New Mexico voice,,, any suggestions?

Mine is so bad about voice recognition that I quit using it......really irritating!

Keep this site on file....I've had a few updates on my 2012 Explorer

LaRue,

I don't much about Ford's Sync, but I have heard that is is very problematic and has had several recalls.

I have a similar system in my new Hyundai Tuscan, and it has similar problems....Part of the problem is that you have to know the special command words and structure your statements to the way it needs to hear them?

Mine is supposed to recognize statements like "Call LaRue"...but it does not recognize that command, so I have to break it up as: "Call", then it asks, "Say the name", then you can say "LaRue". I also have my home numberstored in my cellphone under my name and when I say, "Call" then "Richard Lunder" it says "Calling Gary Richardson"?

I don't think these voice recognition systems in cars are ready prime-time yet....They seem to have more hearing loss then me...

Ditto for the ones on phones. My iPhone's Siri system is so poor with voice recognition that it renders the whole system practically useless.

we figured out this morning that if we bring up the address book on the screen, we can hit the call button and everything works fine. Just something to live with. Thanks Rose loves this new car.

LaRue,

Both my Hyundai and Mecedes work the same way....You can bring up the address book on the screen and select who you want to call.

Oddly enough, I had a cheap Bluetooth hands-free device I bought for my Toyota, and it used the voice recognition system in the cellphone and worked great and had no difficulty understanding commands or recognizing the names I said...it only cost $29.00. It stuck on the windshield and had a solar cell on the back, so you did not have to mess with chargers or batteries. I gave it to my daughter when I gave her my Toyota.

The Sync in our 2010 Edge worked perfectly. Yes Ford has had issues with Sync over the years but hands down it is the best on the market. The key is knowing what the actual commands are. If you are having that many problems with it take it in and have them look at it, after all you paid for it and having a system that does not function as advertised is 100% unacceptable...you shouldn't have to live with anything.

The system in my BMW works very well but the wording is hard to get right and makes no sense as it is loosley translated form German using the Queens English..or so it seems.
