Front axle clips

I call Eaton about an LSD for my 2010 Limited. Dana 30. They tell me that our axles have clips to retain them. So it will not work with their front units.

I read the Maximum Traction thread many times. I want that set up. It seems to be work for him. How was the clip issue handled Any idea I already got the rear LSD unit sitting in my shop. I am planning on doing both in the next few weeks.

Looks like the Torsen is the only unit that works for our Dana 30 front diff. No other unit is made for our CV shafts, we have clips. The Torsen will not work for me due to the break. It is for the 373 or higher gear set. So I am thinking of the Dana unit that works with my stock 355 gear set. I would have to disassemble the unit and counter bore cut the inside of the side gears(or what ever Dana calls them) for the clips. More work then I was hoping for but I see no other way.

Has anyone else installed a locker in the front with 355s?

Both Dana and Yukon have been great with info when I called them over the last month. Yes I was aware that we have a Dana Super 30. Thanks for the info. So far only Torsen is a direct bolt in. Yukon told be no way. Nothing they have will work. I talked to Dana a few times about machining their side gears for clips. Their concern is that the axle may get stuck in the side gears. They told me that in the past a Toyota axle shaft had got stuck in a modified LSD. It required cut the housing apart in order to save the LSD unit.

Basically Dana does not recommend anyone modifying their products I can completely understand where they are come from. So now I will look for a Jeep axle and compare it to ours. Maybe the spline is shorter and or undercut.

This is starting to become work.

Click and clack and click. They do work well. No denying that. But noise from them is hard to live with.
A friend of mine has a new Raptor, it has a Torsen in the front. No drama at all, just smooth grip and or traction.
I have not ruled out just getting the Dana LSD. Taking it apart and seeing why it is not recommended?
BTW, the stance of your truck is bad ass. How was the tow and camber settings with the lift and the long ball joints?

Ohh I hear ya. Have you looked into the true trac limited slip? Not sure If the bolts are right but they have a sleeve kit includes for the bolts. Not sure of exact fit though.

The Black truck lift is good. No issues and it took a preferred alignment with no issue. All good.

It's the True trac that I have talked to Dana about. I already got one for the rear. I do not know about a sleeve kit? They never told me about it. I looked at Jeep Liberty front axles today. They have clips just like ours So I am not sure what the issue is. More confused today then before.

As before, thanks for the info. I will look into the Sleeve kit.

I think that kit is for the bolt sizes being different. Also I know ford changed the number of bolts in the super over the regular 30.

I've put about 15,000 miles on a Spartan Locker installed in the rear axle of my 2001 2WD Sport Trac. Not really that noisy, subtle clicks when turning without power applied to the rear wheels.

Works great when pulling the boat out of the water and in snow. It will chirp the rear tires when cornering and power is applied as it locks up. The slight modification in driving habits is more than outweighed by its benefits.

Thanks for the info. I am doing a 07 Jeep next week. I will be install the same unit in the rear. I am less worried now, knowing it can take that kind of milage.

Hang on to the differential components you remove in case you want to re-install them.
