Has anyone had experiance with the fuel fiter on a '01 merc marquis..my dad wants me to replace the Fuel filter for him,,is it the push pin lock type or will I need the release tool ?? I recently did the one on my wifes '01 escape...did not need the tool..it had the push pin fuel line locks, that you remove with your fingers and push back in place with your fingers..thanks..

Edit; the '01 crown vic probably has the same setup..maybe that helps...

if the 82 is fuel injected, the filter is under the car and is the plastic push in type...

You can confirm this when you buy the new filter.. Ford did not start using the stupid style now until about the late 80's and early 90's...

Thank guys...I hope it is the push pin type...the release tools I have are the Lilse plastic ones...they dont always work on all cars...

Invest in metal ones. They work great.

Just so you know, the filter is under the left rear door right in front of the left rear tire. Easy to access.
