Although our prices have only risen 5 cents/gallon so far this morning, a friend in Kansas City area says that her prices are up 80 cents/gallon from last night. Anyone seeing anything yet?

Hmmmm? According to GasBuddy.com, Gas prices here in Waco, Texas just went down at several of the gas stations including Sam's Club..$3.15 for regular...down. from $3.20 yesterday, and $3.24 last Saturday when I filled up.

Sam's typically has the cheapest gas in the Waco, TX area. A few stations were selling gas for $3.14 a week ago, but they were a little to far to drive for me to save a few cents on a fill up and sometimes the price has gone up without anyone updating GasBuddy.com  It only pays to drive when the prices have been posted within the last couple of hours.

I certainly expect gas prices to start to climb and Gavin is probably seeing the early signs of a nationwide gas price hike.

Those prices are ~0.30 cheaper per gallon than those here in MD (and the massive per-gallon gas tax hike to cover the state's legalized embezzlement is not helping). Just another reason there's a steady stream of people running from MD to TX.

My gas stations are still charging the same high price today that they were yesterday, as far as I've seen.

UPDATE: Sam's Club in Waco, Tx did raise their gas prices today...from $3.15 to $3.17 for 87 octane regular....The average price of gas in Waco has gone up 2 cents overall from yesterday.

Hardly the 80 cents a gallon that Gavin's friend in Kansas City saw?

UPDATE 2:

Today Sam's Club in Waco, TX reduced the price of 87 Octane Regular gas from $3.17 down to $3.11 and another gas station is holding steady at $3.15 for regular?

Waco GasBuddy.com indicates that the prices that went up yesterday have now fallen 3 cents...now back to an average of $3.28.

UPDATE 3: The average price for Regular in Waco, TX have dropped another 2 cents a gallon, however the lowest price is still $3.11 at Sam's Club.

I just bought 87 octane gas at $3.39/gal. Please stop reminding me how much better other states have it

Prior time I bought gas it was $3.48/gal. Gas decreased 9 cents after a 2 week period. Of course, gas would be at least 4 cents cheaper if the new, always-automatically-increasing gasoline tax hadn't been implemented here this summer :)banghead: ).

KL,

I'm not trying to rub salt into your wounds....Waco tends to have some of the lowest gas prices in Texas....not sure why? I also know that there are other towns in other states that have lower prices than we have here in Texas, which is even more confusing since we have so many refineries here in Texas??? It would seem that the closer you are to the refinery that the transportation cost alone would make gas cheaper.

I think the spike in prices that Gavin reported was speculation that the US might attack Syria. Now that the US is negotiating a deal with the Russians and Syria to give up all their chemical weapons, the speculators don't have a solid reason why the prices were going up...so they are declining in most places. I also think that some gas station owners jack up their prices as soon as there is a rumor of higher gas prices to get a jump on the market.

Prices went down at most places around here. I heard on the news that there is a glut of gasoline right now because the summer driving season was not as robust as they had hoped.
