I would suggest synthetic, It lubricates better, but I can't tell you forsure,because mine is only two wheel drive._Ron

 
Just Mercon ATF. I usually flush with a quart of cheap Mercon then fill with something like Mobil 1 Synthetic Super premium Mercon ATF to be safe. You only need 1.3 quarts.



While you're at it, get a suction gun and flush the power steering fluid, that's supposed to be Mercon as well.

I used Mobil 1 ATF. The manual says to change it every 60,000 but it will be dirty long before that. I just refilled the manual tranny in my son's Mustang with Mobil 1 ATF too, it shifts smoother now.

Take the fill plug out first, then the drain plug. When you put them back in don't overtighten them, barely snug is fine.
