So after being without power for a few days thanks to ice I'm thinking it's time to get a generator. I've heard of adding generators to pickups, so that they use the engine to produce the power, but I haven't heard much of them being on smaller pickups like the ST. Anyone heard of something like that?

The gas used and wear and tear to run the ST engine would negate any savings.

unfortunately now is the worst time to buy one by you, but there are good web sites where you can get 7000 watt generators with 13 hour run times for 700 bucks or so...

Harbor Freight as a few different ones at reasonable prices.

If nothing else, you could run a 700 watt inverter off the battery in your ST to keep the refer cold. Not a very efficient use, but the cost of doing so may outweigh the cost of tossing everything in the fridge.

As stated Harbor,
