I must be getting old. Loaned my floor jack to a neighbor, he used it and returned it. Then another neighbor asked to use it and I went with him as he didn't seem sure where to put it and the stands. Needless to say no lift. Apparently 1st neighbor unscrewed the release to far when he let the jack down and blew out the oil. It has been so long since I put fluid in a floor jack I don't know whether you can still use power steering fluid or not. What say ye?

Jim:rolleyes:

I don't think the floor jack will care. It's hydraulic fluid. Try it and see. If it doesn't work, ask the first neighbor how to blow it all out and try again!

atf should work but will void the warranty because you didnt use there oil ! most hydraulic is the same its like putting gold antifreeze instead of the green!

Would use Hydraulic jack oil (whatever it may be) thats what the seals and internal workings require.

A sudden floor jack failure is not good thing.

If it calls for ATF, as some do, you use ATF.

Power Steering fluid, ATF, and brake fluid are different types of hydraulic fluid.
