Are you going to the Toledo Bend area? That's northern Louisiana.

The Sabine River runs up the state line between Texas and Louisiana. Down here in the heal of the boot we call it the Sabine Pass.

I know the area extremely well, having been born and raised in Pt. Arthur. Don't know what you're looking for, but there's nothing at Sabine Pass, especially since Rita hit there. Not much more in Pt. A, either. Take a rod & reel if you like to fish. On the Louisiana side, there's an old abandoned lighthouse. My great grandfather was keeper there in early 1900's, my grandparents were married there in 1907. Go to Beaumont, Texas, or Lake Charles, Louisiana for restaurants, clubs, etc, gambling casinos in Lake Chas.

I assume, since your talking about reconstruction, your referring to Sabine Pass which is on the La-Tx border. It got hit hard by Rita. Like Bill said above, not much there. Not a whole lot there before the hurricane and even less now. Mostly just refineries and swamps. Kind of the armpit of Texas.
