Looking to replace my woods with some newer technology. As well, I would like to get a hybrid or two.

I have a "Play-it-again Sports" near me. They have MANY MANY clubs there. I have no problem with buy last years clubs due to the substantial savings.

Just looking to see what clubs are worth buying over the last 2 or 3 years....

Good names or bad names, good things or bad things....

Everything in my bag except for my putter, 3-wood, and 7-wood is Callaway. I have a Callaway ERC Fusion driver that is the king...300 yard drives are easy for me with the club. I think you can steal them now for around $100, maybe less. I have a Adams Tight Lies GT 3-wood and a Nike 7-wood. Both are great and I bought them used for less than $50 per club. My irons are the callaway Big Birtha irons with steel shafts. They are a dream compared the junks I played with before. There is even a company that makes knock-offs of them and I have a friend that bought a set, if you want to know the name. My putter is a Ping that the ex-wife bought me years ago.

As far as brands go, all of the Nike stuff I have owned in the past was good, except for a crappy Rescue 22 degree hybrid that I just left on the course. Also, if you stick with the major brands, you shouldn't go wrong. I don't know what your level of experience is or budget, but you should be able to build yourself a decent set for less than $500 I would think.

Also, check eBay out. Lots of steals there. I bought my ERC Fusion off of eBay brand new for about $250 off of list.

I have Callaway Great Big Berthas in a 3 wood that I use as a driver and a 4 wood that I use for fairways and shorter tee shots. I hit them farther and much straighter than I hit a driver.

Just a few weeks ago I was finally able to afford Callaway irons. New '04 leftovers, Edwin Watts had them for $399 and a local golf store matched the price.

FWIW, in 1993 I did my grad school thesis on Callaway Golf, which sold me on the company.

I've hit Cobras that belonged to other people and I like them too.

I use Nike Irons and Taylor Made R5 fairway woods with a TaylorMade R7 Driver. I just started using the TaylorMade's and really like them alot.

Rocks
