I wonder how much this site is read by any FMC gurus who make any decisions about production, product popularity, needs of consumers, and so on. Reading all the comments here about how there is a need for a mid-size "truck" such as the ST and the Ranger, it seems elementary that they would ignore a need and a viable segment of the American automobile industry. Where is the logic here? Looking back on the fact that FMC once had 5 of the top 10 selling vehicles sold, for whatever reasons that went away could be the same reasons we are trying to make sense of this news about the ST and the Ranger. Seems they are selling every ST, STA, and Rangers that they produce. Now is the time for GMC or another manufacturer to swoop in and bite them in the a_ _ just because they left the door open for the competition. That being said, I too, have no desire for an F150. I like them, but ain''t buying one! They could have dominated a weak market of mid-sized trucks by keeping an assembly line open specifically for the ST and Ranger, put eco-boost engines in them and blow everyone else off the planet with this double barreled shot!:fire::fire:

Another :btddhorse: monemt for our desires ...... where are you Alan Mulally when we need you? Remember the Taurus? Out of sight, out of mind! = no sales in this market = losing $$$ =:toilet:

Mark - I haven't considered a Chrysler product for that reason. But they may be turning things around. The 2011 Wrangler seems to be an improvement.

I do like the looks of the Jeep Gladiator, and that Nukizer concept that appeared a while back.

My buddy has a 4 door GMC Canyon (5 cyl). Not a bad truck....ugh, can't believe I just said that.

It's brand new and doesn't hold a candle to my 2003 ST. He's had it in the shops more than I have and I've had my truck the same amount of time as him..

If this is the only domestic brand mid size pick-up left after the ST and Ranger are cut from production, I'm afraid to say that things will be in pretty bad shape.

what a dumb move by fomoco.

If I didn't get a new Sport Trac, I'd probably have gotten a Ridgeline. However, the Ridgeline doesn't meet my needs for a vehicle that sees some off-road use and trailer towing. It does seem like a fine vehicle for suburban runs to the Home Center store and even long trips. That's the problem with the cute-ute non-frame vehicles. They aren't rugged enough for off-road, moderate hauling, or trailer towing. Ford already had the Edge, the Escape, and the Flex. Why do they think they need yet another cute-ute (new Explorer) in the lineup?
