If I could provide the same process and quality as Phoenix Imaging, would any of you be interested?

I'm trying to decide whether or not to buy the setup.

I'm not planning on competing with anyone. :)

My dad and I restore old cars and I thought it'd be a nice benefit for them, as well as for some of the local show-happy people. I'm just trying to determine an interest level among vehicle modification-oriented people and this is an excellent forum to do so.

Kgriffis, I agree with you. Competition is healthy.

The general attitude of a few here is one of protectionism, and they would would rather see consumers pay more and there be less competition if it means those they protect make more and have add'l job security.

Competition is good. I have no problem with it. I have 20 sign companies within 30 mins radius of my shop. However, most of them don't do what I do nor do the advertise it like I do. And, I'm not talking about the 9.00 items I sell on my site.

That equip your looking at is not cheap. I'm in the process of a some new equipment and it's like buying a car. So far, 40K investment for the new Printing Plotters.

I'm not talking about vinyl. It's hydrographics.

I don't think SST even does it, and he's about as far as you can be from me and still be in the continental US.

What I'm talking about is like this... http://www.phoenix-image.com/Hydrographics%20Pictures/WebGalleryTrucksSuvs/images/2.jpg

It wasnt protectionism, just curriosity and wondering if we will get another site sponser.

Sheeesh some folks read so much into a general satement or question. Then it gets turned into a theological argument...

Dingo,

What exactly is a hydro graphics. Is it some type of painting system? Would we send you our pieces and then you would send them back with the new designs? It looks cool and I would be interested.

It's basically a primer/colloidal film/clearcoat process. The parts would be sent to me, I'd do the work, and then they'd come back with any design, covered in clearcoat. And I mean any design. CF, wood, granite, camo, particle board, brushed aluminum, etc.

There's a link to more examples. Phoenix Imaging is the largest and most reputable company currently doing this, but it's expensive and they are currently running about a month to a month and a half backlog on orders.

This whole idea started 'cause I hate the fake carbon fiber on my '07. I'm thinking of redoing it in granite.
