Or Fat Tuesday to those not familiar with the Pennsylvania Dutch tradition.

My ancestors were Pennsylvania Dutch (Bauers, which is actually German)

The Germans call the celebration before lent Fasching (sp?) which officially starts at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month (that's Novermber 11th for those with only 10 fingers) And ends on the Tuesday night before Ash Wednesday.
