I have an '01 with the 6 disc in dash pioneer cd player.. I want to upgrade to one with an iPod plug.. What year did they start making that an option? I thought it was on the '03's and up.. but not sure.. I have an FM transmitter that works pretty well but I want cd quality clarity from the iPod..Anyone have one they want to part with??? Anyone know the model number so I can search?.. Thanks in advance for any help.

:)

I think they started in '07, but I don't know about the compatibility of those head units with the older ones. I went and picked up a fairly cheap pioneer with an Ipod hook up in it. Sorry I don't have any part numbers or any other helps.

The first-gen Tracs have a totally different wiring system from the second-gen ones. The radios in the second-gen are designed by Delphi and some of them have major vehicle components (like headlamps) controlled by circuits in them.

You want CD quality from an mp3?

That is kind of a mutually exclusive statement isn't it?

I guess it depends on what bit rate you encode at. Typically 128 is the norm, while 192Kbps may get you closer to "near" CD quality.

Delphi? I thought they were made by Visteon.

Edit: I know about the foul-up with my signature. The site won't let me delete the signature from my profile, and I've e-mailed the admins for assistance in fixing this problem.
