TJR,

Not disagreeing with you at all. That is why Docs have 15 min visits, He who gets the most patients seen in a day, earns a fatter check! and that is terrible the took the time to write and Rx for something they could tell you to buy over the counter!

Back then, I was curious and I questioned why a bandaid would be 35 dollars. Back then I was told that is what the hospital was allowed to charge. (you should have seen some of the other charges!)

Excessive charges being stopped in All areas would make a huge difference. Usinging the bandaid example, If even a package of bandaids at todays cost in a grocery store is, 4.00 a box and there are 30 in the box, It would be 13 cents for each one. So, if the insurance had to pay out 35.00 for one (because hospitals are allowed to bill that much to the insurance company,) and the insurance company not had to pay out that much, Wouldn't it make sense that the Ins C would not have to charge so much for premiums I mean, if everything was billed at a normal rate?

Our own gov is guilty of excessive charges and spending.

An entire revamp on billing services and items, would have to be put in to play to get a grip on ALL of it.

lol But who is really going to do that? Revamping of the system abuse in ALL areas?? It's a real mess I agree.

Roger, I feel for you, really, it is a shame that no common sense is used by the insurance companies medical doctors that do the reviews for Insurance companies. Especially if it means making you healthy! But that's just it, they really don't want anyone healthy! If we were all healthy they would not have business! Sickens me too!

I know personally, 13 people now in different states , that have had the gastric by-pass done, more than half were severe diabetics! All of them lost alot of weight, and the ones with medical issues are now insulin and medicine free! and With no medical issues. I don't recommend it to anyone if they don't really need it but I know that had they kept the weight..it would not have been good.

Also to it''s how a letter is written by the doctors as to getting procedures covered by insurance companies.

My sister had a tummy tuck and lipo done, which is clearly a cosmetic surgery and it was completely covered by her medical insurance she has thru her job. I ask her how in the world did something like that get covered. She said I have a really smart doctor.

Maybe your doctor can contact a collegue that has had much success on this type of procedure, and coverage from insurances to find out what they wrote to get their patients the help they needed??? just a thought.

Good luck to you!
