having a problem when turning from cold to hot, when trying to change to hot setting I hear a clicking sound coming from inside the dash somewhere, if I put it on cold the clicking stops but as soon as I turn it to hot setting it starts that clicking noise again anybody ever have this problem...

2007 Sporttrac XLT V8 4.6litres

Thanks

The blend door is not located in the same area as the gen 1's. Its deep inside of the center of the dash, hard to get too. I believe u have to take the whole dash apart to get too it.

Just wanted to add this to this post since it was the exact symptom I had with my 2007 Gen2 V6 with manual climate control. The clicking is the blend door actuator trying to spin into position but since the teeth are stripped you just hear the motor spin and spin making that click sound. You may have to turn off any air and radio to hear the clicking. I ordered replacement Dorman part number: 604-209.

In my truck I was able to pull off the simple panel that is at the floor to get access to it. Simply give a good tug and it pops right off.

Depending on the tools you have access to it may need to pull more panels. I used a simple 90 degree electric nut driver that was almost too big to fit up in the space to run the 8mm screws out. You probably could use one of those ratcheting drivers where you can spin the handle in addition to operating it the usual way.

Here is a pic of the my driver and the old white actuator, the replacement Dorman is black.
