I have a friend that just bought a 2006 Mercury Mariner and she had it for about 2 months and hit a deer with the front end. It cracked the front bumper cover (which is painted) and her insurance co. will not pay to have the Cover replaced. They will pay to have it plastic welded though. That is even after the Dealership Bodyshop told the Insurance Co. it needs to be replaced not "welded". This is a vehicle that was bought new (5 miles on it) TWO months ago. I told her to see about getting a cover herself and having the shop put it on and paint it. I looked on E-Bay and there was nothing there. I was hoping someone (coastie maybe) could give me an idea where to get one at a reasonable price. The dealership is charging $600 for a new one. Zip is 15767. Thanks.;)

She has GEICO, doesn't she? I had problems with them before. Whichever company she has, she should drop them as soon as she gets the vehicle fixed. She also should contact the Better Business Bureau and the State Government's Insurance agency.

In Ohio it states that they must put the vehicle into the condition it was prior to the incident.

Sooo, if it was new and not welded then you would get a new or replacement cover as I read it....

Thanks Coastie, I'll let her know. Also, I can't believe it myself. It would definately lower the value of the truck having it done that way also wouldn't it. They have even gone as far as hanging up on her husband and it was the head person who did it! I told her the same thing, I think she should just pay the money to get a total replacement, have the shop guys put it on and charge the insurance to paint it, letting the insurance co. think they did just what they wanted them to do, and then drop them like a bad habit. I do think it's Geico, Nelson you're right. What a bunch of crap. this is the first accident she has had (and really it's not that bad) and she's used this company since she was 16.(she's 21 now) So they were happy enough to collect her money then but not willing to pay out now. NICE!!!;)

Sorry guys, it's Nationwide.
