Help-gear selector will not allow to be placed in Park

When I arrived home last night from work, mt ST wouldn't allow me to place it in park. The gear selector lever moves freely in N,R,1,2,3, etc. but abruptly stopped betewwn R and P. Has anybody experianced this?

I assume you cannot get your key out of the ignition since the lever must be in park to remove the key.



I had a similar problem with my old T-Red 2001 Sport Trac Job-1 when it was only about 2 months old. I had to fiddle with it for about 15 minutes before it would fully engage park and I could get my key out. I took it to the dealer with about 4 or 5 other minor items and they kept the ST for a week (gave me a loaner car).



They claimed that they lubed the ignition lock and the column shift parts, and I never had the problem again. So I would say, that's what you will need as well.
