i need some help, i have a 1000x1 alpine amp runnin to my L7 solobaric, and when i turn the volume over 14, my bass cuts out completly from the sub, and amp reads "CUR", anybody know what this stands for, or better yet, know how to fix it, any help would be appreciated, thanks

Im not sure but my guess would be that stands for "current" or the lack thereof seeing that youre running 1000rms on the stock alternator i assume...I was running 900rms on the stock alternator and after long runs the amp would cut out not because of overheating but because the alternator couldnt crank out enough amps to keep 900 watts pumping..If thats the case the only way i found to fix it is to turn the gain down and if youre going to be pounding it, do it in loud/quiet spurts....After you pound a song real hard turn it down and let everything charge up, etc...Or, spend a couple hundred bucks and upgrade your alternator...

Good luck, hope this helps.

Andy

Are you using a CAP?

Rule of thumb is .5 farads for every 500 watts. In your case it would be a 1 farad CAP. I run 2000 watts peak with 2x1farad caps and have never had a problem with my battery/alternator or even the slightest dimming of the lights.

"CUR" prolly is, like andy said, a current drop. Tell us more about your system and we will be able to sort this out.

oh ya, what size wires are you using and is your ground wire completely secure on bare metal?

One more thing, if you have a 6 AWG hot lead, make sure the ground wire is also

a 6 AWG to complete the circuit without any "bottlenecks", or resistance points.

Also, if you have the stock battery, especially an older, weaker one, try a new higher

capacity battery, or even consider an Optima Red-Top Battery, or the like, along

with the alternator upgrade, as was previously suggested! And don't forget to clean

all of those contact points and grounds, battery terminals, etc...! And never, ever use grease

to coat your terminals or connectors. It is an old wive's tale! Grease is an insulator, last

thing you want for a solid electrical connection.

What size wiring is back to the amp? I would run at least 4 gauge

You should upgrade your run from the alt to the battery and the ground from the battery to chassis and motor to chassis. All at least as big as what you are running for the amps.
