help !!!

alright my st is starting to tick me off. I just replace the belt on my truck bec it was makein like a whistlein noise i guess u can call it well anyway got it replaced the noise stoped and now the noise came back any ideas or anything ?

Sounds like a pulley. With the ST running, take a bar of soap and hold it on the belt. That might help. Be careful!

Belt tensioner bearing may be going bad...

The soap trick will only tell you if it is the belt. You will need to try it on both sides. The serpintine also uses the back side of the belt.

I had the whistling sound on my Ranger and it was the idler pulley going south. Should be able to get under the hood and listen as to where the sound is coming from.

Watch the tensioner. If you watch it just while at idle or a raised RPM, replace it.



We replaced the tensioner on my Dad's Taurus. It sounded fine but if the A/C was running, you would hear some noise. Replaced the tensioner and the noise went away.
