All Over the East Coast,
My folks' home has a well, so we never had an issue with lack of pressure, water main break, sewer break, etc. Only if the power went out did we lose water, and if that happened twice from age 0 to 21, I'd be surprised.

Living here on the Main Line, we lost our water sometime last night. It was restored a short while ago. In that time, never did I realize how lucky of a society in which we live--sure, a flatscreen TV, fast computer, great car, whatever are nice. But, you take away something as essential as running water, and honestly--nothing else mattered. :)

I showered at a friend's, but ... heh ... let's just say it was great to retake my place on the throne.

Y'all have a good night, and good morning. I know I will now. :D

Yeah, one time here last summer we lost water for 3 days. When you have a job doing manual labor for 10hrs a day, you really enjoy that shower when you get home.

Luckily, I worked at a country club, I just grabbed a swim suit and headed back up to the pool :D

Last winter we lost the water to this entire block for 5-6 days. They were doing a sewer line repair and the hoe operator hit the water line. It caused our basement and the neighbors to end up with over a foot of water in them. Then the fixed the line, pressure tested it and it blew again. This happened two more times so they had to give us coupons to shower at the local swimming pool. Lots of fun. Gotta love hauling buckets of water into the house to flush the toilet.

30 of my old friends and neighbors in NY state had a rude awakening last week.

They all woke up with various problems. It seems the water pressure in each of their homes when crazy....and they were all served by their own wells.

Nearby a gas company was drilling for natural gas. They had a drill bit get stuck, so they forced compressed air down the hole to losen it. The air hit the water table, the water table which transferred the pressure (water and air) to the wells, the wells to the houses, and kaplooey...fountains came out of toilets, faucets fixtures flew off of sinks, geysers shot up 20 feet as well caps blew off, you name it, it was a mess!

The little things we take for granted.
