I did a search on highflow cats and cat-back systems and got to wondering what happens to the stock cats. How many are removed? Will I still be smog legal (here in SoCal) if I chose to install one or both types?

Fliptrac..I could be wrong, but I think CA. law wont allow any cat converter elimination at all. This info I have gotten when I have looked for hi-po exhaust systems for various cars. Plus a few hotrodders from CA. have made comments to the same..I would think it would be wether the inpection stations look for OEM cat, setups...

3 out of the 4 are removed. 2 with the y pipe and 1 with the back cat.

I think you would be safe just doing the y-pipe mod. Since the truck has 2 huge cats under there, I don't think the shop Will even know the front 2 even existed..
