Greets All!

Tried and very much liked an '07 4.6l yesterday at a local dealer. Recently retired and shopping for a tow vehicle for our new 21' travel trailer(about 4800 loaded). All units seem to have tow packages installed, but reading owners manual this morning says class II is standard, III is an option. Is there some way I can tell by looking if it's a 2 or 3?

Any 'watch out fors' on these rigs would also be much appreciated!

Thanks a heep! Great resource for this noobie!!

Class 3 will be the 2" receiver hole, class 2 will be the 1-1/4". Your trailer will require a class III/IV, as class 3 is up to 5000lbs... To get a class 3 on that trac will require having someone torch off the small receiver and weld in a larger 2" receiver... Don't use a small to large adapter.. The truck itself will haul the TT you mentioned. Unless that trac is a really good deal, you may want to look for a trac already equipped with the 2" receiver. You my be told that there is a 2" unit that will mount under the small unit, but that is only for regular explorers. If you do a search, you find more on this issue and some pictures...

here are some links.. There is one picture if a welded in 2" receiver... If you were to do this, get a welder that is certified... No room for error here... HTH
