OK, I have to ask--and I apologize for hijacking the thread, but the responses so far lead directly to my question:
When those of you who are military come back from an overseas tour, do you ever get tired of the responses like these? Don't get me wrong--I, too, am appreciative. And responses like these are far better than the response many military people received coming back from, say, Vietnam. But I have to think it gets old. Does it?
I keep hearing radio ads for places who are trying to help returning soldiers with minor thins like dealing with responses like this, or with kids who ask if they had to shoot anybody; or with major things like spouses who are wondering why they're more distant, or PTSD, etc. I realize that most appreciate the responses like this--but for how many are they more bad than good?
