hot wire on radio

The pig tail for trailering got smashed up against the bumper. This blew the fuse and after replacing the fuse the compass/outside temp does not work and the stereo will not go off. I am wondering what is the hot wire for the radio and also for the the compass/temp display. I am going to hook them up to the ignition and forget the auto turn off and such. Had a guy who is a ex Ford service manager work on it and could not fix the issue correctly without wire diagram so I am going to go old school and eliminate the auto off stuff. I have a 05 Limited with the 6 disc stereo. The stereo plays just will not turn off.

What fuse blew? What are you calling the "auto off" ? Remove the battery saver relay in Aux fuse box 2 under the left side of the dash and swap it out with another like relay. Just sounds like you fried the relay and it's hanging "ON".

it is the fuse on the fender well that powers the pig tail/trailer hook up. thanks alot for the help.

Ok, I just the truck back from guy. Radio, moonroof, rear window, compass/temp all not working. Found that the #39 delayed accessory fuse was out of the fuse box. Replaced with key off and all did not work. Started vehicle and all worked except the compass/temp. Turned vehicle off and radio still played, moonroof and rear window still operated. Removed fuse all stopped. If the vehicle is off when you put the fuse in nothing starts on its own but after you have started it all the stuff stays on. Stuck relay I am guessing but I swapped all the relays in the fuse box on the fender and they all did the same thing. If you pull #48 window safety relay all the stuff stops working also but I swapped it with all the other similiar relays and it still did the same thing.

Started vehicle and all worked except the compass/temp.

Did the on/english/metric/off button(the middle one) on the console get toggled to the off position? As everything else works, at least check it out. :grin:

The battery saver relay is under the dash, not in the fuse box but in another small relay box. I'll send the info to the yahoo addy. Let me know if you don't get the attachments.
