How far between oil changes with synthetic?

Currently using up my four free oil changes at the dealer, usually I use Mobil 1 changed every 5000 but I've seen UOA's that show it's good for 10,000. If I did that I'd still change the filter at 5000 and add a quart. I don't care how good the oil is, at some point you've got to get the dirt out of the engine.

I don't know about Benzes, they may hold more oil than we're used to seeing. My dad used to have a 7-series BMW, the service light would go on about every 15k. Called for synthetic oil but it held about 12 quarts too as I recall. He kept it for almost 100k and never had to add any oil, it never burned a drop. Now everything else would break and cost a mint to fix, but that's another story.....

Ya - '01 Job 1 - FL-1A, but it's incorrect in the manual as some other model (probably what you noted). Dealer told me FL-1A. There's probably not much difference in the filtering (just has to fit).
