$.00 is a good deal, I assume that is a typo Tabascobobcat.

I am a non-smoker, never bought a pack in my life, so no clue.

On base, $34.99 per carton of ten packs for premium brands, $3.75 per pack on retail. Used to be $1.10 per carton and $0.25 per pack when I first joined the Navy. And gas was $0.18/gal premium then, with gifts too sometimes. Sad to say, I still smoke:( Forgot to add, that was in 1965

In Ohio they are $4.50 for the middle of the road cigs, (I called the local stores). That comes to $2457.00 per year if you only smoke a pack-and-a-half a day. That would be enough reason for me to quit right there let alone the medical issues... LOL

6 minutes of your life per cigarette...or so I am told.

Damn - I guess I died last year.

Here in San Antonio they go for anywhere between $2 and $4.50 depending on brand name. $2 being generic, no namers.

grump

Whatever they charge for them, it's not enough. Wish they'd jack em up to around $20 to $30 a pack and use the money for schools and fix roads.

Actually, they should raise liquor taxes to about $2 per beer and $20 per bottle of liquor and use the money for schools and fix roads.

Also, raise the taxes on soda to about $2 per bottle and use the money for schools and fix roads.

While they are at it, raise the taxes on fast food by about $2 per meal and use the money for schools and fix roads.

Oh, original post response.......$2.77 per pack for Doral cigs in St. Louis area.

I'm with Darin. They need to raise the taxes like crazy on cigarettes, beer, and whiskey. These are options in life, not neccessities. Their use and abuse costs society a lot of money and sorry, too.

I am not opposed to people smoking (outside, please) or drinking. I just think these things ought to have the hell taxed out of them.

Pepsi and bottled water are options in life. Sometimes I wish all the do-gooders and busy-bodies; who have nothing better to do than to try to run other peoples lives; would just SHUT UP and mind their own business.

Raise the tax on softdrinks and fast food. Obesity is costing our society a bunch too.

This is not a "do-gooder" issue. This is an issue about smokers, drinkers, and fat people not paying for their behaviors. These folks are getting a free ride in life because their public assistance medical bills, their uninsured damages, and their health care costs are being paid by all-- not just them.

Sorry, there are already six million people on welfare and I am working very hard but cannot afford to pay for them. I also cannot afford to pay for all the damage that smokers, alcoholics and drunk drivers cause, and I shouldn't have to pay for higher medical insurance premiums because fat people don't know how to stop eating.

Smokers don't bother me as long as their not smoking near me, throwing their cig butt out the window or putting it out underneath their shoe and leaving it there. Some smokers don't think that is littering.
