How to reset alarm system?

Does anyone know how to reset the factory alarm system on my 2001 ST? I put the wrong code several times and now the truck is totally shut down. I tried inserting the main key in the driver side door but that did not work the truck is not reseting. Thanks for your help.

That system doesn't sound factory. The factory system uses PATS in the ignition, and as long as you have a coded key it should always work. There is no code to enter, except on the keyless entry, which doesn't disable the ignition if you make errors.



Aftermarket systems vary widely, so you'll probably have to provide additional information on the alarm system for anyone to be able to help.

It looks like I may be stuck and have to get it to the dealer. It's not an after market alarm, but it seems to be malfunctioning. I left the key in the ignition and although it should not have locked it did. When I tried to punch in the code several times it shut all the systems down. When it rains it poors. I tried the original key, but nothing is working.

I'm looking for that manuel hoping it can give me a hint of what to do before I have to tow it to the dealer and pay out of the wazzooo.

I wondered if the battery died, also...wrong door code wont cause anything except not unlock...

I will check the battery in the morning, but it is fairly new still. I never had any kind of battery problem before this.

I might be wrong But i thought I read in the owners manual that if you try the wrong code too many times the pats system will shut the truck down for 15-30 min.... No mater if you have the key or not... I will double check that later..

Just Waite a little and see what happens..

Can you turn on your headlights and stuff???

Okay, first let me thank everyone that helped me brain storm this problem. I was not sure why the ST was shut down. I thought that it might be the anti theft device, but guess what? This morning I called AAA and got a boost and the thing started right up. Todd your suggestion was my first thoughts, but I had no way of finding this out at the time. Jeff and fast eddie guest right on the money. The ST is now running and I ended up going to sears and buying a great booster/charger kit. Got it for a great price on sale. I could have bought a new battery, but I think the one I have is still good. My stuppidity was what killed it. It sat there for almost two days because I locked the keys in the car and I could not get the other key to work in the lock. I was patient, but I sure feel stupid.
