Rodger what was you part #. I have thought of the same. I want the one with the nipple for a hose. Less splatter maybe.

That part was genius, one of the best mods a vehicle owner can make.

Replacing the plug? No thank you.

I don't remember where I got mine, though in retrospect I should have gotten the one with a hose attachment. I found it easier to know when full draining is achieved by just watching the stream--and watching the stream is cooler than watching a hose trickle IMO, but I often change my oil on a slanted surface, which has issues with a free-flowing stream.

I do remember mine only cost $25 bucks though.

I not sure I understand. It is very little trouble to use a half inch socket to remove and re-install the OEM drain plug. Perhaps for oil sampling to send in for analysis between oil changes?

I have been using valve #106N, the best part about the N designation is that you put a short hose on the nipple and drain your used oil right into an empty oil or windshield washer fluid bottle, no mess, no problem. Valve is around $27 plus shipping.

I dont think the valve is a great purchase without the nipple, since you then need to use a drain pan, and then transfer your used oil into a jug with a funnel :banghead: .

:supercool:

I also bought a #106N Fomoto Valve. Put it in on the 1st oil change I did on my Trac.

Got a length of 3/8" I.D. hose to use with it and life has been a lot easier since.

I use the circlip they recommend but it may be overkill.

Cayman,

Circlip might not have been he correct term. The clip I speak of is refered to as a Hose Clip on the Fumoto web site. There is a picture of it and they list the proper size for their valves. It can be bought at any hardware store.

Oh, I just slip a hose over the nipple to drain the oil and then pull it off when done.

No need for a clamp.

Don't know if you are thinking that the Clip might be used for the hose. It is not meant to be in this case. The Clip is used to lock the lever so that it will not open in extreme conditions. There's a picture of it installed on their website.

I'm installing mine today.

Here is a pic of the clip. It goes over the lever to stop it from accidentally opening in "extreme" condition, I haven't decided if I'm going to install it or not, I think it will depend on how much extra room I have to get tools in there. Mine is going on my Jeep and it has a oil pan skid so I don't want to have to remove the skid to be able to remove the clip.
