Thank God for the "Off-Topic" catagory here.

Anyway, I'd just like to know why the manufacturer's out there don't wake up and realise that the Sport Trac is a very popular vehicle and that the owners of them would love to "trick", "Mod", whatever to thier vehicle just like every other Tom, Dick and Harry out there that owns a Mustang, Escalade, Hummer, etc. When I go to a place (mostly Internet places) I'd like to get the correct part for what I'd like to do. Not have to use another vehicle for the spec's to get a part that MIGHT fit. I was looking here at previous posts "Inlet/outlet size for stock ST" and "GUN METAL TAILLIGHTS" and was going to post this there but thought "what the hell, make a new post". Anyway, back on track, the main reason that got me going was the Inlet/outlet one. I was planning to change my muffler this summer and alot of sites that I've looked at told me it was a 2.5" In/Out. Now I've been here and reading long enough to know that the two people (Todd Z and Fast Eddie) that answered that post know thier SH*T. So of course I'd take thier advice and trust it. It's a 2.25 In/Out. When is the ST going to get the respect it deserves? It's got the best of both worlds (practicality and function) and looks great doing it also. It's not a Behemoth oversized vehicle, it doesn't seat 20 people, and doesn't kill you every month to pay the loan off. It would be great to find a site that just deals with ST's and sells every Mod out there and when you order it you know for a fact it will fit because these guys actually took the time and did the homework to make parts and every style of Mod out there that will bolt right to the vehicle without having to cut corners or shave alittle off here/there to get it to fit because it was orriginally designed for a Finf Explorer Sport.

Sorry for the long post, but I feel alot better now. Let me know that I'm not the only one that feels this way. Maybe someone out there will read this and think "thats a good idea, maybe I'll set up a site like that".

Anyway, I've been comming here for almost a year and just want to say thanks to Rich Stern and all that have helped over the last 11 months with my questions and problems. (Todd Z and Fast Eddie and the like) Everyone here is great and I'm happy to be a member and hope I can make the meet this year to meet some of you.;)

stone, for the most part, the inlet/outlet won't matter muc over a quarter inch. The muffler shop can adapt the pipes to fit. You may want to check which offset the inlet/outlet have if you're not going to run new pipe. Not positive but I believe the inlet is offset to the left or driver side. Not sure about the outlet.

I plan on doing it myself in my garage. I know I'll need extra pipe and all but I've done a few before. It would just be nice to not have to do that stuff. The muffler on my Toy was a dirrect fit that I took the old one off and put the new one on. The one on the ST is HUGE! What the hell?;)

If it were a Honda Sport Trac, every aftermarket vendor out there would kill themselves to make options, I guarantee it.

Scott:

Ford just doesn't get a lot of respect most of the time. Majority of parts out there are for GM's. They probably do surveys that say Chevy owners buy more crap than Ford owners, I dunno. No point in neglecting a market though. Look at the wheels for example. Most of the big diameter aftermarket rims have a GM offset even if it's a Ford bolt pattern.

Believe me I know your frustration... The things I have gone through just modding my st. If I figured out the cost of OEM parts I have destroyed to try to make aftermarket stuff, I bet it would be well over a grand....

I think the fact is the Sport Trac was never marketed for the type of people that do Performance mods to their truck... ( enthusiasts like us). Almost every St I see here is a bare bones off the lot truck. (which there is nothing wrong with) IT is hard to find some one interested in their truck...

But pull over a civic, Saturn, jetta vr6, etc, and those people wanna talk shop.

The other thing is the "Part specific" items for the ST. Almost no parts are interchangeable from other vehicles and if they are no one has tried it... If they do change, they may be limitations as to what you can do...

These are not Mustangs, vettes, etc, that are built for speed and have a HUGE sales base.

I have called many companies that make ford performance stuff and almost get laughed off the phone when i ask if there is any R&D for a part for the the sport Trac...

I know how you feel, But thats why we learn to make this our selves, and find ways to make universal stuff fit like OEM !!!!!!

I don't know...

I see an awful lot of aftermarket parts for Rangers, F-150s and ESPECIALLY Silverados and S-10s. You can't even pick up a street truck magazine without there being an extremely modded S-10 or Silverado. And they actually are classified as "Trucks"
