OK here it goes...If I want to download home movies on my I-pod what format do I have to change the video to?

Thanks in advance

I bought the software suite from CuCuSoft.com and converted DVD's, TV shows I had downloaded (House, Grey's Anatomy and How I Met Your Mother) and home created WMV files. Works great but some DVD's don't copy because of the encryption. Highly recommended program though. Converts several formats to several output to include Ipod and PSP.

if you already have the file on your computer (as an mpg, avi, etc):

Xilisoft iPod Video Converter

changes the video to an mpg4, the recommended file type for ipod videos. very easy to use.

if you are copying from a dvd:

Xilisoft DVD to iPod Suite

takes a dvd, rips it to your machine and compress it to mpg4.

both of these programs cost money, but there are ways to get them for free, like everything else on the internet.
