they both arrived today, The seat covers are the Wet Okole, the speakers are JL audio's, I have had alpines for 6 months but they always sounded like they were missing something.

Think I will put the seat covers on first and then take my time with the speakers. the speakers have separate crossovers so I will need to take some time and find a place for those first.

all depends on the amps, head unit, wiring, and crossovers...

1. the factory speakers were gone after about 30 hours from the time I picked up the car.

I installed alpine 5X7's in then an Alpine 200w am and alpine head unit. I have never been 100% satisfied with the alpine speakers. My friends say they are fine and I shouldnt mess with them, but I think I can do better. So I have these new JL audio speakers to put in.

as for the deadening. I have dynamat, I didnt install them back in december because the doors on my 08 are pretty solid, and I dont usually blast the stereo, but now, I plan to take my time and install dynamat first before I install the speakers.

The seat covers will be installed first however.

thanks for the suggestion. I am trying to avoid going the component route. I wanted speakers that just drop in. these JL audio are essentially component speakers. they have separate wiring to the tweeter from the crossover.

Everything is fine with the stageing on the alpines, it is just something in the midrange that is not quite right. they make plenty of base and the highs sound good to me, but things like snare drums and acoustic guitar sound too low, when I boost the mid range, it will sound ok at the volume I boost it at but when I turn it up, it gets overblown.

Originally I had a set of polk mmc570s but they were too tall and too deep with their cast aluminum frame.

I plan to put the seat covers in first saturday then start on one door and see how far I get. I hope there is room for that crossover somewhere underneath the door panel.

I will try to take some pics as I go along.

cheers,

the covers are the Wet Okole covers, I think Cubber has the same ones. they are made of neoprene, I paid extra and got the Sport trac logo and the zipper pockets on the back.

From the photos of cubbers's trac they fit perfect and look almost factory.

they were a little pricey, almost 600 bucks delivered, but I have the camel interior and the seats pick up dirt like crazy despite that I scotchguarded them when the truck was brand new.

$600 for seat covers, dang! I was considering getting some, due to the tan middle portions picking up dirt easily....man that's pricey. They will look great though.

Yes they are pricey, when I ordered my trac I was being cheap, I should have gotten leather but it was a bit beyond my budget, 20/20 hindsight...

but yes, that middle tan portion is tough to keep clean, I had someone in the back with brand new jeans and the ink rubbed off onto the seats and so far I havent been able to get it out. I am planning on having this truck for 10 years and I think the neoprene goes better with the kind of use this truck is intended for.

I took them out of the plastic and examined them, they really seem to be well made, they have the openings for the seat airbags and I think I paid extra for the logo and the built in pockets in the seatback. If they fit as well as I expect, I think it is worth it.

it says the jls are a drop in on their site, they state they fit most ford vehicles. I did a side by side with the stock speakers and the depth looks fine.

cant remember the part number off the top of my head, there are a couple but min has CXi and 570 in its name.
