So did you have the original motor rebuilt or did you replace it with another

My motor just turned past 246 K and I am starting to plan - wish I could put a 3.5 ecoboost but that is probably a pipe dream
I put in a new motor. It wasn't much more than getting a rebuild done and with over 300K on it, it made sense for me...

I still have my 01 with 360,000 miles and just like Doug Watts I had the engine replaced the transmission rebuilt and the rear end rebuilt.

I believe it about the rust. My 04 is a Florida truck and the reason I bought it was no rust anywhere. Some cosmetic scratches topside but being a 20 year old truck in Ohio without rust is very uncommon. It would mean it spent it's life in a garage, and only came out to go to the car wash. But, it has a lot of miles. That car wash must have been in another state.

...bought my 2003 sport trac xlt exactly 1yr ago in NC ...one owner from GA ...well maintenanced truck with 164,000 miles ...with original manuals and records
Welcome to the Herd!
2003 model is a "SweetSpot" for Gen1 SportTracs; early bugs were worked out
& still had the simple\maintainable PreHEC InstrumentCluster\PCM\Electronics.
Bought my 2001 SportTrac 21yrs ago as a dealer demo\loaner with ~10kMiles.
Definite weaknesses\quirks that need tending, but has been a dependable vehicle, now >250kMiles.
